Panama Experience

Barefoot Panama: Historic Railway and Canal Tour

The tour begins aboard the Panama Canal Railway, the first trans-isthmic train in America. On this journey, you’ll enjoy views of the rainforest, the Panama Canal, and Gatún Lake before stopping at the Aguas Claras Visitor Center, where the new and larger Canal locks are on view. The tour ends at Fort San Lorenzo, located in the Chagres National Park. This is the perfect tour for learning the history of Panama, from the Colony to the beginning of the 20th century.

Casa Congo

Casa Congo Boutique, a four-room hotel located in Portobelo, is part of a social program developed by the Bahia Portobelo Foundation. In addition to lodging, the hotel features an art gallery that exhibits and sells pieces by local artists and an “Escuelita del Ritmo” or “School of Rhythm,” offering music and percussion classes to visitors. These same classes are free to the local youth. Casa Congo is, without a doubt, the perfect place to learn about the history and traditions of this historic town in the Colón province.

Xplore: Pirates of Portobelo

The Xplore guides will introduce you to Panama’s little known Pirates of the Caribbean route and the places where real battles took place during the colonial era. They will take you on an exploration of the Caribbean Sea aboard a catamaran in search of marine treasures. This unparalleled tour offers kayak rides, snorkeling, and a visit to a hidden Caribbean beach. Lunch? At the exclusive El Otro Lado Lodge in the middle of the Caribbean.
